What is Stagflation?

Stagflation is an economy with high inflation, weak growth and rising unemployment all at the same time.

It is hard to fight because the usual cure for inflation (raising rates) can hurt growth further. The US experienced it in the 1970s.

Why it matters to you

Stagflation squeezes households from both sides: prices rise while job security weakens.
